Yangzhou Two-Day Tour

Tour Itinerary

Day 1
This morning, we will take a van to Yangzhou, which is about 3 hours on the road, upon arrival; we take lunch and have a short rest. After lunch, let’s start our Yangzhou tour from one of the “Four Best Gardens in China”— Ge Yuan Garden. Ge Yuan Garden occupies a total of 2.3 hectares, bamboos, stones and residence each taking up one third area respectively. These three parts are independent but coordinated, each playing its own tune but forming together climaxes one after another. The Rocks constructed into different prospects in four seasons; bamboo growing aims at having rich species; and there are three ways leading to the luxury living quarters of the former owner, which tells the owner’s great learning, honors and obvious luxury.
Leaving from Ge Yuan Garden, we will have a free walking at Ancient Lanes in Shuang Dong District. In those ancient lanes, there are so many historical architecture tells us stories of the history and local people’s ordinary life. You will also find the different footstep of the Buddhism, Islamic and Taoism.

Day 2
This morning, we will visit the most famous sightseeing in Yangzhou, the Slender West Lake. It is so named after Hangzhou’s West Lake. With weeping willows spans the lake; there are pavilions at each of the corners of the lake and one in the center. Around the lake is a park in which are found several attractions: Lotus Flower Pagoda, the White Pagoda, Small Gold Mountain and the Fishing Platform. In the afternoon, we will drive to northwest of the city to visit Daming Temple. Daming Temple combines together a number of attractions, including religious buildings, important historical sites and beautiful gardens. Daming Temple is also famed because of Monk Jianzhen, a name familiar to many Chinese and Japanese people. Jianzhen was born in Yangzhou in the Tang Dynasty (618-907) he was the superior of the Daming Temple. On the invitation of the Japanese people, Jianzhen ventured across the sea to Japan in an attempt to spread the practice of Buddhism. We come back to Shanghai later in the afternoon.
