--Yu Garden is located in Shanghai’s city center, it is a very unique quiet place in the center of the bustling bazaar. The garden is built in Ming Dynasty, just like the famous Suzhou style garden, Yu Garden has the pond with fish swimming in, the zigzagging bridges across the pond, the traditional house complex features the southern China gardens. Outside the garden is the Yu Yuan Bazaar and Chenghuang Temple Bazaar, the famous Shanghai Old Street is also here. Shopping in the bazaar, you will feel like in the old Shanghai town.
--The bund area, however, is the best place to look over the modernization from the historical Shanghai. Alongside the bund by the west bank of the Huangpu River, you will see all kinds of traditional architecture of all kinds of style around the world which is built during the concession times. By the east bank of the Huangpu River, there stand all the skyscrapers built in the last 20 years which show to the world the unbelievable development of this modern city. The Nanjing Road, the famous pedestrian street near the bund, is also a must place to visit in Shanghai.
